Green Guard Underlayment

Why Do I Need Underlayment?

The biggest contributors to pond liners failing are poor, unstable soil conditions and rips and tears from rocks and boulders. Shifting soil creates pockets and voids under your pond liner, forcing it to stretch under the weight of the water. Rocks and boulders when placed on and around your water feature create aesthetically pleasing visual focal points. They can also penetrate, tear and harm your liner.

What is Leed®?
The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building rating system

The largest problem with pond liners failing is poor soil conditions. The soil under the liner tend to shift or erode. We have all seen what happens to the foundation of a house when this happens. If the soil erodes under a pond liner, the liner will then be forced to stretch into the void from the weight of the water. The underlayment will not stretch and will give support to your liner increasing the life.
